Our Specialist

Some dishes demand a specialist. Biryani Basmati is India Gate's Gold Standard for biryani. The rice that biryani purists choose, every time.

What makes Biryani Basmati different is what it was built for. Sourced from the Himalayan foothills and aged perfectly, the grain is specifically calibrated for biryani's unique demands, exceptional grain separation, absorption of complex flavours and holding form through extended dum cooking. Each grain elongates to 4.0x volume expansion, taking in every note of saffron and spice, and delivering the visual separation that turns a good biryani into a great one.

FAQs

  • Regular basmati can make good biryani. Biryani Basmati is optimised for biryani. The key differences: (1) Exceptional grain separation — stays individual even under heavy masala and extended dum, (2) Dum-cooking resilience — doesn’t turn mushy after 45 minutes of sealed cooking, (3) 4.0x elongation — grains reach 18.8mm post-cook for impressive visual appeal. If biryani is your signature dish, this rice is engineered for you.

  • Both make excellent biryani, but they serve different needs. Classic is our flagship all-rounder — 2-year aged, extra-long grains with 4.5x elongation, works beautifully for biryani and pulao and special occasions. Biryani Rice is the specialist — specifically engineered for biryani’s unique demands with exceptional grain separation. Choose Classic for versatility; Biryani Rice if biryani is your primary focus.

  • You can, but it’s overkill. Biryani Rice is optimised for dum cooking and heavy masala absorption — features you don’t need for simple pulao. For pulao, Pulav Rice or Tibar offer better value. For daily cooking, Dubar or Select are more appropriate.
