Quinoa is the Answer to the Food Loving Diabetic India

In a country that loves to eat mithai, quinoa is the key to healthy desserts and nourishing lifestyle, especially for those with diabetes.

Everyone in India loves to eat. Every small or big gathering is also a mini food fest. From adding more malai to our lassis to more cheese to our pizzas, we love ‘extra’. Wherever we go, our suitcases are always accompanied with Bhujiyas and Mathris. In between our hectic schedules, there is always time to visit fancy restaurants and experimentation in our kitchen.

Our lives are filled with crazy working hours, odd eating and sleeping habits, too much stress and zero exercise. These habits reflect negatively in the future.  One of the reasons why people have heart problems, blood pressure and diabetes is because they lead an extremely hectic lifestyle. The cause for diabetes varies from one person to another depending on their genetic makeup, ethnography, family history, health and other environmental factors.

The way to reduce the impact or the chances of getting diabetes is by implementing a healthy lifestyle, which includes eating good food. Good food starts with quinoa. The kind of health benefits the whole grain provides is tremendous.

According to a World Health Organization (WHO) fact sheet on diabetes, an estimated 3.4 million deaths are caused due to high blood sugar. The protein and fiber content makes quinoa a good intake option for reducing cholesterol and blood pressure levels and can help you maintain a healthy weight. This can prevent you from getting other chronic diseases that come with diabetes.

Quinoa is the best remedy for diabetics because of its low glycemic index and high nutritional value. It has iron, magnesium, protein, antioxidants, minerals and fiber content and is gluten free. A healthy diabetic diet includes the intake of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

With quinoa, reducing the chances of getting diabetes or lowering it is not a challenge!
